Breeding Coordinator

Reports To: The Breeding Coordinator will report to the Director of Breeding and Genomics in the Genetics Department at The Center for Aquaculture Technologies (CAT).

Job Overview:  As a breeding coordinator, you will be responsible for maintaining selective breeding programs for multiple clients in aquaculture.  You will serve as a point person for the client to help support directives that include but are not limited to: breeding strategy, program design, phenotyping, inventory maintenance, biosecurity training/protocol design, data analysis, and staying up to date on current literature related to breeding, genetics, genomics, and aquaculture.  This position requires frequent travel to field sites for clients to oversee program directives and execution.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Actively engage in designing, planning, and execution of breeding programs and research objectives
  • Good organization skills
  • Effective communication with clients and CAT teams
  • Interface with multiple groups within CAT to execute breeding program goals
  • Collect and analyze information
  • Organize data and samples
  • Maintain data in a database
  • Execute basic statistics
  • Maintain confidentiality of breeding clients’ program details

Travel Required

Frequent travel – Over 25% travel will be required

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Genetics or similar
  • Aquaculture experience preferred
  • Open-minded and flexible scientist
  • Highly responsible and independent
  • Attention to detail in documenting, executing and analyzing data
  • Passport and ability to travel
