CAT PROUD PARTNER IN PROJECT TO DEVELOP SUSTAINABLE PROTEIN FOR AQUACULTURE

The Center for Aquaculture Technologies (CAT) facilitates bringing innovative and sustainable solutions to the aquaculture market faster.

The shift in market trends calls for the creation of high nutrient and environmentally sustainable aquafeeds to meet growing consumer demand. Today, the company announces the joint effort with government, academic, and private organizations on the game-changing Sustainable Protein for Aquaculture project led by DeNova. The project first announced by Canada’s Ocean Supercluster is aimed at commercializing the breakthrough technology that will convert greenhouse gas emissions into a protein product to be used in feeds for farmed fish.

The CAT nutrition experts will incorporate DeNova product into a novel feed formulation and produce research diets at the company’s state-of-the-art AQUA FeedTech extrusion facility. CAT’s world-class nutrition team will use the extruded aquafeed in growth trials for Atlantic Salmon to evaluate growth performance and safety.

“CAT is pleased to support DeNova and its partners in the development of their novel protein ingredient for use in aquafeeds. The CAT FeedTech Center, complementary expertise, and facilities in aquatic animal nutrition research are designed specifically to facilitate bringing innovative feed ingredients like the Sustainable Protein for Aquaculture to market faster”, commented Debbie Plouffe, the VP of Business Development.

The product is poised to shift the global feed industry into the alternative and sustainable nutrient sector while adding to the growth of the Canadian economy. We are delighted to contribute to the success of such projects as the Sustainable Protein for Aquaculture and help expedite their entry into the aquaculture market.
